Cupcake Cones!

Did you know you can bake cake batter directly in ice cream cones??
I didn't until a few days ago!

Aubrey and I were randomly looking through dessert books during nap time, and she came across a picture of cupcake pops and of course asked to make them.  I took a look in my pantry to see what ingredients we had.  Honestly I didn't want to go to all the trouble of making cake pops, so I pulled out a cake mix and some sugar cones that have been in the pantry for who knows how long (and consequently they were stale...but who cares!).

My original idea was to do the beginning stages of a cake pop (bake the cake and crumble it with frosting) and then stuff it into the cone and frost to make an "ice cream cone cake pop" BUT then I noticed a Cupcake Cone recipe on the side of the Duncan Hines box...and lo and behold I discovered you CAN bake the batter in the cones.  How easy and fun!!

Prepare batter according to package directions, and pour into cones.

Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.

Cool, then frost and decorate to look like "ice cream" cones!

What a fun baking project for kids!
